Vicaory Spons' Sam Gammon, SAS promoter Vickie Robens, and Hill Creek's Allen l"lcwilliams worked to8ether to make the race a success. lnclud- in8 Saturday's or8anized practice, nearly 1000 riders left their knobby track on the hillside couIse. lncreased factory cortingencies were available from all four m4or manufactureG, a5 well as thos€ offered by l,lSR, Ans,wer and Pro Taper. Local businelses Miller-Sutherlin Aurohotive and Pell City Power Sports provided sponsorship. Class winners received their choice of an OGIO backpack or duffel bag. Trophies went l0 deep, and uflique palm-sized holeshot awards were issued in selected classes. Kentucky's Justin Sipes. Floridian Cole Boutwell and ceorgia's Derek Rogers were the fastest rider! in the Pro, Amateur and Youth classes, respectively; they racked up a combaned total of l5 moto wins and seven overalls. Donnie Adams grabbed the holeshot in the first 250cc Pro moto. Sapes passed the Honda rider and pilored his WBR Suzuki/PR-2-backed RMZ to a lo-second win. Two more Suzuki riders, Auston Albers and Suzuki of Baloxi s Nathan Davenport, caught Adams before the fanish. Another Suzuki rider. Shane O'Banion, completed the top llve. Again, Adams was quickest up the hill to the first turn in moto two. He briefly led Sipes, who iumped ever,,thinS in sight and scored another win. Davenpon moved up a notch and claimed second overall. Blair fljller was hot on Davenport's heels this time, but his l0-3 tally couldnt crack rhe top llve- Adams' solid 4-4 score earned third overall, ahead of Albers (2-7) and O'Banion (5-5). Sipes had to work the hardest in the l25cc Pro class. Yadkinvilie, Nonh Carolina's Eric B€an led moto one for a lap. Miller put his Kawasaki out front and held the poinr until Sipes used an inside pass to take the win. ln a fierce baftle for third, .lon Boruff prevailed over Dav€nport and Bean. After finishing eiShth in ra.e one, O'Banion 8ot down to busin€ss the se.ond lime out. He led rhe way until Miller used a skyshot launch over the elevaror iump ro fly past- lt took Sip€s three laps to find a way around l"riller. Davenpon (4-4) edged Boruff (3-5) for third. O Banions big improvement to third in the moto put him in fifth overall. A hard-charginS Boutwell scored the win in the 250cc B class and brouSht fellow Kawasaki riders Cody Patterson and EdSar Robinson with him lor a green sweep of the podium positions. By the end of l+ one in the llrst moro, Boutwell led Robinson. Yamaha-mounted Dylan Rigs and Honda rider Josh Ma),berry Boutwell b'Jilt a huse lead by the end of lap two and posted an eventual 20-second win. 14ayberry put an inside pass on Robinson for second. Patterson tagged Robinson for third. SCC Series riderlared Hicks placed fi{th. Boutwell took th€ lead early in moro two and never looked back. A focused Cameron Stone (7-4) forced Robinson (4,3) to push his ma.hine hard to stay ahead. Robinson linished iust thr€e seconds behind Patterson (3-2). Mayb€rry (2-5) was the first non-Kawaseki rider, wkh founh overall. Boutwell also went l-l in the Open Four-Stroke class. Robanson. Brad Kiester and Boutvell had their KXs running ifl formation eerly in moto one. Boutwell moved out front on lap one, and Grant, Michigan's Kiester put a downhill pass on Rob;nson for second. By race s end, KTl,l-mounted Branden Miller had worked his way to third, ahead of Gretory Roberts and Mayberry Kiester made Boutwell work for the second-moto win and llnished a close second. Miller pla.ed third again. Stone (6-4) had the speed necessar) to triumph over Mayberry (5-5) and Roberts (4-6) for founh overall. fil'4 rider Rogers took on all challenSers in the Schoolboy divisions. ln the first four-stroke moto, Yz-mounted Kyle cills turned in a great ride but couldnt challen8e Rogers for rhe win. By railinS the berms, Rogers wofl by 15 seconds. Pike Road, Alabama's Kendall l4ason raced ro third, ah€ad ofjared Hicks and Alex l,lcwilliams. Gills upped his pace in race two aod stayed in range of Rogers until haltdistance. Luke Davie made a big improvemenr to rhird this time. but it was Mason (3-4). Hicks (4-5), and l"lcwilliams (5-6) who completed the top five overall. ln the two-stroke division, RoEers had his l25cc machine singing and aced both motos ahead of Davie's YZ. A better second-moto inish gave Hicks (4"3) the edSe over Matthew Beil (3"4) for third. Signal l'lountain, Tennessee's Nickolas Phipps went 6-5 for fifth overall.
