Jimmg Jarrett:
New Lease
On
Life
After changing his ridirig strate$/ this
year
and stepping up
his
conditioning
program,
JimmyJarrett
has worked his way into
the
position
of being one of the top
ofr-road
racers in the country
-
he, for sure, is one
ofthe busiest!After limiting the numberof
ia.es
he ran
last year,
the 29-year-old is
now
riding
or'erything he
possibty
can, and
the added saddh time has definitely
paid
off.
Jarrett
has toElly dominated the OMA
series in 2006, a championship that he has
won the
past
two
seasons, and
he
proved
that he can ride with the front-runneG of
the GNCC Series by claiminS a
pair
of
fourths at the last twa rounds, in Missouri
and Ohio, oo his Andrews
Cycles/MaxxiV
Moosesponsored $-auki
RM250.

The
year
kind of stafted
off slow for me

I DNFed the first
GNCC oI the season, and after that I
was consistently around loth

for
the next
few rounds, but then I

Last
year I
didn't really
plan
on
riding
too many of the GNCCs
because I kind of
got
bumed out
on them
the
year
before. I
just
focused on the
OMA
races ahd I
was winning the races,
but I was ooly
going
as fast as I needed
to
go.
But this
yeat
with
Juha [Salminen]
stepping it up, that speed wasn't
good
enough
for
the GNCCs, so
I
definitely had
to step
ir
up
in
thar series, and it shows in
the OMA races. Also, I decided to ride a
lot more races this
yeai
I am riding both
the GNCC Series and the Ol"1A Series,
which means I am racing
about every
weekend. I
think from riding both series, I
haven't really had a weekend off, and my
endurance is b€tter than ir has ever been.
ln the OMA Series I feel I can
go
as fast as
I can for two hou6
and not
get
tired.
That's pretty
much what l've been doing
and I have been winnin8 fairly easily.

I would
say my condition-
ing has made a big difference. I have been
working
with a
guy
in my hometown and
he's always been on me
about
my
train-
ing,
so this
year
I
iust
decided
to
step it
up. That has helped me
a
lot,
plus
getting
up there and racing with those top
guys
in
the GNCCs has helped my speed. And
then riding the two series,
iust
about
every weekend, I am
riding two to three
hours. The OMAs only have l0 races a
yeaG
so before I would have two or thre€
-.-.
I
weekends off,
in
a
row
Now
I
have no
breaks and that is helping.
