Sriibos
followed him into second
place.
Leok and Striibos
then went at
it for the
rest of the race,
with
Striibos
passing
Leok on
the l0th lap and barely holding
on for the
win.
For Leok. however, second
place
was
good enough
to give him second overall
for the day, something
he
was
quite
happy
with-
''l
am
happy,"
Leok said.
"The
second
race, I could
follow him
[Everts],
but he
didn't
make any mistakes and
I
cor-rld
not
keep
with him
lons
enough,''
Any chance Strijbos
had
of cominS
away
with the overall win, however,
ended
early in the second
moto after he
got
a bad start. Striiobs staned
way back
and spent the
entire moto salvaging as
many
positions
as
he could-
Suzuki
rider Steve Ramon ended
up
filling out the
podium with 6-3 moto
finishes.
As for Tortelli, the former
World
champ
showed
good
speed over the
weekend, but bad stans
and crashes
kept
him
from running with Everts.
ln the
first moro.
Tortelli was runninS
founh when he crashed
and had to ettle
for
seventh. Things
did not
go
much bet-
ter for the KTl4
rider in the second
moto,
in which
he
got
a bad start and
had to
claw and
scratch his
way toward the front
of the
pack.
He did,
however, improve
to
fifth
in
the
moto for sixth overall,
ln the MX2 class,
South African
Tyla
Rattray recorded
his second
straight
overall win. but
with an unorthodox
5-2
moto tally.
In the first
moto, the CHAMP
KTI'l
rider struggled
on the heavily
watered
track, crashing
on the first lap,
but
he rode much better
in the second
moto, though
he
couldn't
get
around sec-
ond-moto
winner
Antonio Cairoli.
Rattray
pushed Cairoli right to the end
but couldn't
make the
pass,
but
he
didn't
need to,
as second
place
was
good
enough
for the overall win.
"He
[Cairoli]
was trying
to
get
away
and
stretch a lead, but
I
wasn't
going
to
let
thar
happen," Rattray said.
''He
was
riding
really fast. I could
not
pass
him, because
