Perhaps more importantly for Everts, he
now enioys a modest l5-point advantage over former
World
champ Sebastien
Tortelli, who finished sixth overall
on the day.
Everts came close to winninS both motos in Spain, but a
small crash in the first moto was
his
undoing.
The Belgian
was leading when he
went
down and
lost
a
number
of
posi-
tions. He managed to

up to third before the checkered
flag came out.
Everts
made
sure
that he
did
not repeat that same
mis-
take in the second moto. The defending champ

out in
front
early on
his Yamaha and stayed there. He felt

pressure from Leok
early
on
but
managed to steadib/
pull
away as the Tace wore on.

first race, lcould not find my rhythm,"
Everts
said.
