The
lack of
rain leading up to the race made for
some
of the
flre-road
sections to
get
a little dusty,
but the
more
technical trails
found
deep
in
the woods remained
per{ectly
moist. The
usual rain
didn't start
falling
untilthe last lap,
but that was still enough time make rhings
a
little
slick and affect the outcome for
some competitors
further
in the
pack.
And the drier-than-normai conditions
weren't the only
abnormaliq/ at this
year's
Hollister Classrc

Garrahan, the local hotshoe who is always
a favorte
at this
race. A
few weeks earliec
Garrahan broke his leg at the National
Hare
Scrambles
opener in Arizona,
which
forced him out of this
year's
lineup.
So
his

to
take
up the slack.
