Finding
Cannon Ball's Trail
by Don Emde
Inspired by Erwin "Cannon Ball" Baker's
Transcontinental motorcycle ride from San Diego
to New York City in 1914, the author Don Emde
began two years of study and a cross-country ride
to recreate Baker's actual route. The cross-country
ride with Emde and two dozen supporters that
followed was named the "Finding Cannon Ball's
Trail Centennial Ride." They left San Diego at 9:00
a.m. on May 14, 2014, exactly 100 years to the
minute from when Baker had. They then adhered
to a pace to arrive on Manhattan exactly 100
years after Baker had. Softbound. 168 pages with
400+ illustrations documenting all three rides.

The Speed Kings
The Rise and Fall of Motordrome Racing
by Don Emde
The Speed Kings begins in the late-1800s with
bicycle racing, which led to two-wheel "Motor-
Pacing." In the early 1900s, bicycle velodrome racing
inspired the creation of high-banked, 360-degree
versions for the piston-powered machines. The
age of motordrome racing began and the public
couldn't get enough. At first, Motordrome racing
made the front pages of newspapers promoting the
country's exciting and dangerous new sport. Later,
news of many tragic events saw it all crash down.
Hardbound 372 pages with 600+ illustrations.

Note: When The Speed Kings was released in
2019, it was named Best Book of the Year
by the Motor Press Guild, an automotive and
motorcycle press organization.
