Motovation Supersport Mathew Scholtz (Strack Racing Yamaha) moved 21 points clear of PJ Jacobsen (Rahal Ducati) in the Motovation Supersport title race following a dominant weekend in which the South African took pole position and two race wins. Race one saw Scholtz tri- umph by the relatively massive gap of 10 seconds over team- mate Blake Davis after the teenager refused to back down long time. I was pushing as hard as I could the entire race. Fong waved the white flag on the final lap and finished 1.1 seconds behind in second, with Herrin a despondent 14 seconds off Beaubier's winning pace, the result putting him 22 points off Fong heading into New Jersey's final tripleheader. Kelly once again grabbed a top five in fourth, getting the better of Gagne in their race-long battle. Fong's title lead is now just eight points from Beaubier, immediately got back to busi - ness, reeling Fong back in and retaking the lead, one he would not surrender as he romped to a 91st AMA road-racing career win and another five-point swing in the title race. "Everything flashed in front of my eyes [when he almost crashed]," Beaubier said. "All the hard work we've been putting in. The front end came back, thank - fully. I was struggling pretty bad with the front end there in some of the long right-handers. My gap just started closing, a tenth by a tenth. Bob [Fong] was closing in on me.
