his 3-1 wasn't enough to trump Sexton's 1-2. "In that first moto, I just asked way too much of the motor- cycle," Lawrence said. "Once I got up and tried getting in a flow again, I wasted two laps, where Eli [Tomac, who got around Law - rence when he fell] was gone and he was riding fast." Lawrence took control in moto two and kept Sexton behind him for all 16 laps, but Sexton did not need the position for the overall win; however, he did need to prevent Eli Tomac, who was close behind, from passing him. He required medical attention, so a red flag was needed to allow the Alpinestars Mobile Medical team to cross the track safely with their medical unit. Nordstrom later said, "I'm alright, just a little slower in my head than normal." HAND CRASH After the second-moto 450MX restart, privateer Jeremy Hand suffered a scary crash when he lost control of his bike just be- fore a high-speed drop-off and crashed, his bike cartwheeling into the crowd. Luckily, neither Hand nor anyone in the crowd was seri- ously injured. MOSIMAN MISSING Michael Mosiman missed the action at round eight after sprain- ing his ankle last weekend during moto one. He re-aggravated the injury in a crash during the first 250MX qualifying session on Sat- urday. He underwent evaluation on-site by the Alpinestars Mobile Medical Unit before choosing to sit out. PAGING PLESSINGER AND VIALLE The Red Bull KTM team was down to one rider this weekend, as both Aaron Plessinger and Tom Vialle joined Julien Beaumer on the sidelines. Plessinger was ruled out due to "ongoing health issues" that previously hindered him at the RedBud and Spring Creek Nationals in recent weeks. Briefly... Jett Lawrence was all over Sexton in moto one but fell, resulting in a third in the moto. He bounced back with a win in moto two.
