Hunter Lawrence secured third place on the overall po- dium. The second Honda HRC Progressive rider also made his return to racing after a shoulder injury had prematurely ended his Supercross season earlier this year. The older Lawrence brother is now in his second 450MX season and looked fast from the start. Hunter managed to hold off Tomac for the entire first moto, starting the day on the box. He fired off first in moto two with a massive holeshot but dropped back to third in the opening laps before engaging Tomac settled for the runner-up position, knowing his results were good enough for second overall. "Beast Mode" may not have come out on top, but if round one is any indication, he'll be making appearances all sum - mer long. "We both had our strong areas on the track," Tomac said. "It was interesting to ride behind Jett. Unfortunately for me, I was behind him the whole time, but it was a good learning experience for me to see his lines and see his style. It was a good battle for about 30 minutes." ROUND 1 / MAY 24, 2025 FOX RACEWAY / PALA, CALIFORNIA MOTOCROSS I AMA PRO MOTOCROSS / SUPERMOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP P78 in a race-long battle with KTM's Aaron Plessinger. The two fought hard for the full 35 min- utes before Plessinger claimed the spot on the final lap. Still, Lawrence's 3-4 finish earned him third overall. "It was a pretty average day, but I'll take it," Lawrence said. "I had a great battle with AP in moto two and made a little mis - take right at the end, and he was there to capitalize. That's frus- over before the halfway point in moto two and started riding quite well after that, but then crashed again. There were just some racing incidents. I am okay." MYOWNRACE 19 JORDON SMITH19TH (13-23) 250MX It was a rough day in general for the entire Triumph team, which included Jordon Smith. "It was not a great day for me," Smith said. "I did not qualify well—the class is stacked—and I had a poor start in the first moto but pushed hard to move into the top 10. Unfortu- nately, I made a small mistake at the end and fell down to 13th. I started dead last in moto two and then crashed, but I am happy to complete the day. My preparation was minimal prior to this." Tomac (3) pressured Jett for most of the second 450MX moto en route to second overall. Hunter Lawrence (96) and Aaron Plessinger (7) had a great battle in the second 450MX moto.
