VOLUME ISSUE MAY , P77 26 TY MASTERPOOL 10TH (7-15) 250MX Ty Masterpool returned to action and rounded out the top 10 after lead- ing early in the first 250MX moto. "In the first moto, I got a good start and made a nice move around the outside," he said. "I felt like I rode well, just battled hard and did the best I could. Unfortunately, on the last lap, I took a rock to the throat and ended up throwing up everything. I lost all my nutrients, so the second moto was just about survival." MYOWNRACE 83 AUSTIN FORKNER 25TH (40-22) 250MX Triumph's Austin Forkner had a rough day after DNF'ing the first moto fol- lowing a crash, needing stitches be- tween motos and falling again in moto two. It was his first outdoor race since 2023. "It was not an amazing day," he said. "I came together with someone on lap one of the first moto and tipped over on the backside of a roller. The following riders did not see me, and I got hit by someone, then a lot of rid- ers hit my bike, too. I was sore, I must have gotten a footpeg into my leg, because I needed stitches from the medic unit between motos. I tipped 2025 Fox Raceway National Video Highlights areas where we couldn't push it because we knew we'd stack it. It was a cool race for me." Tomac returned to action with 4-2 finishes, which earned him second overall. After breaking his leg at the Tampa Super - cross, the former champion looked to be back to speed as he battled at the front in both motos. Tomac faced challenges from both Lawrence brothers throughout the day. In moto one, he fought with Hunter Lawrence for most of the race before narrowly missing the podium by one spot. "Looking back at the day, I wish I would've done a few things dif - ferent in moto one," Tomac said. After some minor adjust- ments to the bike, Tomac executed a better start in race two and found himself behind Jett right from the get-go. The two went head-to-head for the entire 30-plus-two laps, but the running order never changed. Tomac even pulled alongside Lawrence a few times, but minor mistakes forced him back each time. By the end of the race, anything on the track," Lawrence said. "Like where they're going to make a pass or 'Okay, I can hear him here, here and here.' It's cool to race someone like Eli." Jett's best lap in moto two was a full second faster than Tomac's, and the Australian utilized his sprint speed to keep the veteran at bay on the rough track. The suspense intensified as the race progressed, with the two alternating leads in dif - ferent sectors, Jett gaining an advantage before Tomac quickly closed the gap. Lawrence even- tually broke free in the closing laps and crossed the finish line 11 seconds ahead of second place, marking a dominant start to the new season. This 1-1 result represents his 16th career overall win in the 450 division. "Eli was behind me, but I could definitely hear him," Lawrence said. "In those sections where I could hear him on top of me, I was going all out, everything to defend it and stay in front. It kind of felt like a chess game because he had his areas where he'd push, and we both had
