ROUND 17 / MAY 10, 2025
RICE ECCLES STADIUM / SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH
SUPERCROSS I MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS / SUPERMOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
P72
7 AARON PLESSINGER
6TH 450SX
Aaron Plessinger won his heat race
and holeshotted the main event but
later finished outside the top five. "I
struggled to find a setting that worked
for me in qualifying, but by the time
we got to the heat race, it was work-
ing awesome. I got a holeshot there
and won the thing, which was good.
I holeshotted again in the main, but I
saw that I was around both Coop and
Chase and panicked a bit. I doubled
the whole way down a rhythm lane
and lost a lot of positions, then
struggled to recover from there."
12 SHANE MCELRATH
9TH 450SX
Shane McElrath ran in a podium
position for most of the main event
but crashed late in the race and
finished ninth. "I put everything I had
into the whole day yesterday, starting
at press day, Friday, and all through
qualifying and the race. The main
was going awesome until I made a
small mistake jumping into the corner,
and my hand slipped off the bar and
went down. I'm not really one to make
mistakes like that (a lot of times to
my own detriment), but I'm honestly
excited about it because it proves to
me that I was pushing, maybe the
hardest I ever have!"
MYOWNRACE
"Today I did what I needed to
do," Sexton said. "It stings. It's
definitely a hard pill to swallow.
I knew I had a long shot to win
[the title], but until that check
-
ered flag came out and I knew
I
wasn't the champ and Coop
won, it hit pretty hard. It's tough,
