450SX
After letting the points lead
slip away earlier in the season,
Sexton is now on the offensive
and looking to earn back those
valuable points he let slip away.
He linked together a perfect day
on paper: fastest qualifier, heat
race win, and later backing it up
with a win in the main event.
"All I can do, really, is win
from here on out," Sexton said.
"I haven't won a normal main
event since Anaheim 1, so that
was a big focus for me today,
and I am happy to have been
able to do that."
It didn't come that easy,
though. Sexton's start in the
main event saw him go wide in
turn one and round the first lap
in fifth place. He made quick
work of Cooper Webb and
moved to second while giving
chase to the early leader, Ken
Roczen. A move around Roc
-
zen allowed Sexton to lead the
second
half of the race and,
ultimately, score another crucial
win while, more importantly,
earning vital points in the cham-
pionship hunt. With his fourth
victory
of the year, he's only 12
points back with four rounds
remaining.
"It's time to make or break,"
Sexton said. "I felt great all day,
and that's how you do it: one,
one, one, one [fastest qualifier
in both sessions, heat race win,
main-event win]. I'm looking for
-
ward to the next race, but today
was awesome. Good, dry
track—
not like last weekend—and I'm
feeling good on the bike. It's
been fun, and today was a good
step in the right direction."

1 TOM VIALLE
6TH 250SX
Tom Vialle lost the points lead after
finishing outside the top five in the
250SX main event. "I had a pretty
good afternoon going—a good start in
my heat race—but then had a pretty
big crash on lap two, and [I'm] pretty
lucky to be alright after that crash. We
went to the LCQ and qualified through
there for the main, and, yeah, I didn't
start great with my gate pick. I think I
was around 10th and ended up com-
ing back to sixth. The good point of
today is that we're only two back for
the championship with three to go."

51 JUSTIN BARCIA
14TH 450SX
Justin Barcia led early in the 450SX
main but crashed and finished 14th. "I
hurt my finger pretty bad on Thurs-
day, so I was lucky to be out here rid-
ing. We qualified 11th, and then in the
heat race, we got third, which, consid-
ering the circumstances, was pretty
good. In the main event, I launched
out of the gate for a great start and
then had a small issue with my rear
brake there, which I managed for the
rest of the race. Bummer deal."
