was elevated from highsiding himself halfway into next week five minutes ago into an unlikely podium position in third place. But there was no stopping Hayes, the veteran holding off the charging Jacobsen for the win, his 89th in a professional career that is halfway into its fourth decade. It was also the Yamaha YZF-R9's second win after two MotoAmerica starts. Davis had one final lunge at teammate Scholtz at the last cor - ner but ran wide and let the cur- rent class number one through to the most unexpected podium of his life. Davis was fourth and Max Van (Vision Wheel M4 Ec - star Suzuki) was fifth. In the series points, Scholtz leaves Birmingham the leader the high side on the right-hander leading onto the back straight in a spectacular crash, but thank - fully, he walked away unhurt. Yet more drama was to fol- low. Scholtz made a daring pass on Hayes at the Museum Corner, put his head down to stretch the gap, and promptly threw the Ya- maha away at the same corner as Alexander 15 seconds later. After finishing a disappointing 10th on Saturday, the old dog Hayes had the bit between his teeth in the rain and shot off the third row of the grid into third by turn one, a position that became the race lead by Charlotte's Web turn four. With the rain belting down so ferociously that just keeping the bike from hydroplaning in a straight line was an achieve - ment, Hayes set the pace from Alexander, Scholtz and Jacob- sen, with Scholtz moving up to second on lap six, and Jacobsen disposing of his teammate Alex - ander a lap later. One lap later, it was all over for Alexander. He was flung over ROUND 1 / APRIL 4-6, 2025 BARBER MOTORSPORTS PARK / BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA ROAD RACE I MOTOAMERICA AMA/FIM NORTH AMERICAN ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP P90 The incredibly tough conditions of Supersport race two saw the wily veteran Josh Hayes (4) pull off a win. Mathew Scholtz (1) had a massive highside but incredibly still put it on the box in third after Tyler Scott crashed and Blake Davis ran off the track.
