Mathew Scholtz (Strack Rac-
ing Yamaha) got off to the best
possible
start, taking pole posi-
tion and the opening race win
in the Alabama sunshine after
pulling a 2.3-second
gap on
2024 title archrival PJ Jacobsen
(Rahal Ducati Moto with Xpel).
Scholtz's teammate Blake Da-
vis was an impressive third, with
the 18-year-old
only five sec-
onds behind his race-winning
teammate and almost
10 sec-
onds ahead of Vision Wheel M4
Ecstar
Suzuki's Tyler Scott. Fifth
for race one went to the second
Rahal Ducati in Kayla Yaakov,
who in turn was just marginally
ahead of the third Rahal Ducati
with Corey Alexander on board.
Sunday was a different story.
With torrential rain pounding the
track, it was the man who just
turned 50 years old on Friday
and holds the AMA record for
most professional road race
Fong was 15 seconds clear of
Richie Escalante (Vision Wheel
M4 Ecstar Suzuki), who made
up for a race-one crash with a
sixth. The top 10 was rounded
out by Beach, Gillim, Jason
Waters (Edge Racing BMW) and
Max Flinders (Thrashed Bike
Racing Yamaha).
In the series points, Beaubier
leads the way on 45 points from
Gagne on 41 and Fong 10 points
further back on 31.
MOTOVATION
SUPERSPORT
The 2025 Motovation Supersport
category seems to be a bright
one if you're on one of the new
Yamaha YZF-R9 race bikes, with
it taking both race wins in vastly
different conditions with two
very different riders on board.
