heat up when Huffman caught Young.
Huffman banged into the rear of
Young over a jump, causing both
riders to get a little out of shape. Young
wasn't able to hold off Huffman, who
sped past into the lead. Huffman
captured the moto win and the undis
puted overall victory, followed by
Young, Decker and Canoy.
Young got the jump on the field in
the first 250cc Pro moto, but was passed
in the next turn by Nelson. Decker was
seventh and Huffman was third from
last. The end of the first lap saw Nelson
leading. Decker was already up to fifth
spot and biting at the heels of the front
runners, while Huffman had moved
up to sixth.
Wholesale changes in position took
place every few turns for the first few
laps and the racing was great. Young
took over the lead from Nelson, and
Decker and Huffman freight-trained
their way past Hamilton. Moments
later, Amaradio also passed Hamilton.
Wooten was able to hold Decker back
for half a lap before Decker out-
accelerated him coming out of a tight
turn. Wooten had no luck holding
back Huffman, who made a great pass
in a jump section.
On lap four, Huffman joined the
battle over second place, and secured
the position by passing Decker and
Nelson in the same turn. Young put
up a valiant effort for the next two laps
to try to keep Huffman from passing,
but Huffman easily motored past. The
next-to-last lap saw Decker get by
Young as well.
In the final 250cc Pro moto of the
weekend, Nelson got the holeshot with
Young in second. Huffman got an
uncharacteristic good start and was
sitting in third position. In less than
a lap, Huffman took over the lead and
pulled away. Huffman never looked
back, and scored another win, while
Young ran a strong race and finished
in second place. Amaradio finished
third.
Huffman netted the overall with his
1-1 finishes, while Young's strong 3-
2 tally earned him second overall.
Third overall on the day went to
Amaradio with his 4-3 score.
Monte Montague dominated the
60cc (9-11) class throughout the series,
and continued his success by winning
every moto in the final two rounds.
Montague went wire-to-wire in each
moto to earn a pair of overall wins
ahead of Randy Norman, whose con
sistent third-place finishes in each
moto earned him second overall on
each day. Third overall on day one
went to Bryan Jaramillo.
The Old Timer Master class was also
dominated by one rider. Jon Miller
won every moto he competed in, and
couldn't be touched by any of his
competition. Another strong and
consistent showing was demonstrated
by Gary Doggett, who easily gathered
enough series points to earn second
overall. Consistency also paid off for
Terry Judd, who finished the series in
third. cn
