Webb's Yamaha teammate
Justin Cooper scored a season-
best finish in second place.
Cooper has strung together
a series of fourth places this
year but had yet to finish on
the podium until Indianapolis.
The New York native looked
comfortable all night in the soft
conditions, and the rutted track
played to his favor. Cooper is
known for his ability to jump
through the whoops, and this
became a strength as the track
broke down. He ran in fourth
for most of the main event but
gained two spots in quick suc
-
cession after passing Justin
Barcia
and Sexton. A second-
place finish matches his career-
best result and bumps Cooper
to fourth in the championship
standings.
"I wanted to go out in the main
event and get back on point,
and I was able to do so. I got a
great start and made it happen
early, and it was a great race
for me. I led every lap and was
able to just ride my laps. I'm
super stoked with how the night
finished up."
further sweeten the deal, his
closest title rival, Chase Sexton,
fell while running in second and
handed another five points over
to Webb, and the number two
went from leading the champi
-
onship points hunt by 10 to 15.
"I
was pissed off. I made a lot
of mistakes today," Webb said.

8TH 250SX
Julien Beaumer is still riding with
an injured shoulder and finished
eighth in the 250SX Showdown. "I'm
happy with my night in Indy," he said.
"Obviously I came in a little bit down.
I haven't ridden since Arlington, so to
get P8 in the Showdown was a good
night of salvaging points. We'll get
back into therapy this week, get back
to 100 percent and back on the bike
before Seattle."
Cooper Webb (2)
makes the pass for
the lead en route to
his third 450SX
win this season.
