ROUND 8 / MARCH 1, 2025 DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY | DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA SUPERCROSS I MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS / SUPERMOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP P76 race, Sexton was forced to qualify through the LCQ. He started outside the top five but charged to third just after the halfway mark. He was riding well and started pressing Webb for second. However, after a slight bobble, Sexton appeared to have lost all the air from his sails and, uncharacteristically, gradually faded backward, fin - ished fifth and handed valuable points to Webb. Sexton had no definitive answer for his surprising fade at the end. "It definitely was not my best night," he said. "In the end, I did what I could tonight, but just didn't have enough in the tank." Malcolm Stewart, who was good. The track was fun tonight; it was awesome to be up there battling these guys, and to come out of here with a podium is cool. I'm stoked to turn a bit of my luck around and excited to keep this momentum rolling." Justin Cooper fought his way to fourth after rounding lap one in ninth. "I just didn't get off the gate very well tonight," Cooper said. "I battled all night and ate a lot of roost. I think I started around 10th in the main. I worked my way up, charged all the way to the end, and made a run at the podium but just came up short." Sexton rounded out the top five. After crashing in the heat venue in Supercross... Industry icon Bevo Forti was honored during this year's Daytona Su- percross. After 50 years on the MX/Supercross racing circuit, from motorcycle tuner to goggle rep to nearly everything else in between, Forti announced his official retirement... Coty Schock rode a Muc-Off/FXR/ClubMX Yamaha YZ250F in the 450SX class. He qualified 19th and fin- ished 14th in the main... After last year's fiasco, when the Daytona crowd rushed the track before the 450SX main was over, new sturdier fencing was put in place, and no such incident occurred, though the crowd was eventually allowed onto the track. Briefly... It was a tough night for Chase Sexton. He suffered a hard get-off while leading his qualifier. He won the LCQ and finished fifth in the main after running as high as third.
