We unanimously chose Ty Davis as our CN Rider of the Year of 1994.
We were impressed by how he won four major o'-road Nationals in
four categories—a first in AMA motorcycle racing history. He also won
several high-profile races, such as the Baja 1000 and the Tecate 250
Enduro. Plus, he was the top American finisher in the ISDE that year...
Alan Cathcart rode Michael Doohan's Honda NSR500 GP bike... We
reported that Honda's MX Team Manager Dave Arnold had resigned
after 14 years at the helm.
Valentino Rossi was pictured on the cover 20 years ago as
our 2004 CN Rider of the Year. He had won his fourth GP title,
the latest in his first year on Yamaha... Alan Cathcart got to
ride Rossi's Yamaha YZF-M1 Championship-winning bike...
Cathcart also rode James Toseland's World Superbike Ducati
999 F04... CN's own Blake Conner discovered what it was
