Hymas, Sexton Out; Webb, Tomac in for MXoN H onda's Chance Hymas, who was chosen to compete in the MX2 (250cc) class at the upcoming Motocross of Nations in Great Britain, scheduled for October 4-6, will instead undergo surgery on his knee. Hymas has been bothered by a knee injury all season and reaggravated it during the opening SMX race in Charlotte. He will undergo surgery on September 24. "I'm absolutely gutted," Hymas said. "I have waited for the op - portunity to represent my coun- try at MXoN since I was a kid. I was proud and excited to wear the red, white and blue. I was doing everything in my power to be ready for MXoN, but I've been battling issues with my knee this entire season. The team and myself decided the stakes are too high to take chances at the MXoN, and I need to get my knee fixed for the future. My sole focus now is getting back to top form and being prepared to com - pete for championships in 2025." Veteran racer Cooper Webb, 28, who has MXoN experience, will take Hymas' spot on the team and ride a 250. "I'm so excited to be headed to MXoN," Webb said. "It's a fire drill situation and decision, but I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity. I was asked to ride a 250, so I spun some laps on Haiden Deegan's bike and remembered how good the YZ250F is. I haven't raced one since 2016, but I felt right at home with the few laps that I did. I will be all in on 250 prep af - ter Vegas SMX, and I'm excited for the opportunity to represent my country. Let's do this!" Another significant change was announced on Monday, Sep- tember 23. Chase Sexton, the U.S. Team Captain and MXGP competitor, has been forced to relinquish his seat due to an injury sustained during the Las Vegas SMX final on September 21. His spot will be filled by Eli Tomac. "Due to the unfortunate racing incident Chase was involved in at the final round of SMX, I was the next one in line to take his place for Team USA," Tomac said. "Aaron, Cooper and I are ready to give it our best effort at Matterley Basin. This is very short notice for my team, but we are going to make it happen!" This will be Tomac's fifth time representing Team USA at the MX of Nations. CN WIND IN THE P28 Star Yamaha teammates Eli Tomac (pictured) and Cooper Webb have stepped in to represent Team USA for the upcoming Motocross of Nations.
