up the pieces.
The moment of truth came at
turn one on the penultimate lap,
Herrin getting the run on Kelly
and slicing past. Herrin then put
in two qualifying-style laps, his
body position changing from
cruising to attack mode. Kelly
fought valiantly and closed right
up on the back of the Ducati, but
there was no way past, as Herrin
parked the Panigale in the last
corner, thwarting any counterat
-
tack from the Floridian.
Herrin held on for a victory of
three-tenths of a second from
Kelly, with Beaubier right with
them, but unable to find a way
through on his fellow BMW rider.
"What a great weekend," Herrin
beamed. "It wasn't the best prac-
tice and qualifying, but the racing
is what matters, and both races
were great. The first win was by
18 seconds and in the second I
feel like I had half a second on
