up top, so I kept doing it there
and then was coming down low
for three and four. I just clicked
off laps and felt great.
"I can't thank the team
enough. I know they get a lot
of flak for cutting back on how
many guys they have on the
team, but I think it was a great
decision [to focus on a single
rider]. It was a great day."
It was a pretty good day for fac-
tory Indian pilot Jared Mees, too,
who
took control of the points
lead for the first time this season
and with only a championship
non-factor outscoring him.

Beach said, "To come here
and win? To get my first half-
mile win is just amazing. Going
into the day, I just wanted to
chip away at it. We weren't the
fastest, but we kept improving,
kept improving. My plan for the
race was to get the holeshot
and go straight to the bottom
and see if anyone would come
around the top. Sure enough,
Brandon did quick, so I moved
up there. And Jared was still
coming underneath me in three
and four. One and two felt good
to not suffer any further over

taking attempts en route to the
victory.
The win was not just Este-
nson Racing's fourth on the
season
and their 12th consecu-
tive podium; it was Beach's first-
career half-mile victory.
Racing
historians will note that leaves
him just a mile triumph short
of achieving the elusive AMA
Grand Slam (premier-class wins
in mile, half-mile, TT, short track
and road race) thus far accom-
plished by only the legendary
foursome of Dick Mann,
Kenny
Roberts, Bubba Shobert and
Doug Chandler.
Tom Drane (59) captured his
fourth Singles win of the year.
