with. He stalked the early lead- ers in moto one and capitalized on Hunter Lawrence's late-race crash to take over the top spot. A win in race one marked his first-ever moto win at the RedBud circuit and set the tone for the rest of the day. Moto two proved to be more of the same, as Sex - ton forced his way to the front early on before setting his KTM to autopilot and winning by a margin 450MX Sexton stepped up as the man to beat at RedBud, a venue he considers his home track. The veteran racer is still seeking his first 450MX title, and with news of Jett Lawrence being sidelined for the rest of the Pro Motocross season, Sexton went about his business as usual but perhaps with a bit more confidence, hav - ing one less competitor to deal ROUND 6 / JULY 6, 2024 REDBUD TRACK N' TRAIL / BUCHANAN, MICHIGAN MOTOCROSS I AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP / MONSTER ENERGY SMX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP P72 38 HAIDEN DEEGAN 5TH (2-6) 250MX "It was a little bit of a slower day for me," said Haiden Deegan. "I quali- fied fourth, and in the first moto, I was riding well. I got a decent start, made my way up to Ty Masterpool, and we had another photo finish. He ended up getting a win, but it was super close. Then in the second moto, I got pinched off hard on the start, so it made it a little hard on me, but I got going. I started setting some of the fastest laps, and then a rider crashed on a landing and there were no flags, and I crashed. So, 2-6 for fifth overall on the day, and no points lost, that's good. We've got a 42-point gap still, so we're in a comfort- able position." 27 MALCOLM STEWART 6TH (6-7) 450MX Malcolm Stewart had his best moto result of the year with a sixth in race one. "For another track I haven't been back to in 10 years, I can say one thing: the fans were awesome!" Stew- art said. "It's pretty cool, and I had a really, really great time out there. Moto one was good for me, and then moto two was better again in a lot of ways. I made a mistake, went down, and got back up to charge to seventh. We were sixth overall, but I am happy because I rode good." MYOWNRACE Chase Sexton swept the day with 1-1 finishes at his home race.
