track, which received rain the
evening before the National.
However, good weather pre-
vailed on Saturday, but the racers
struggled
with an extremely difficult
track to navigate with all the deep
ruts and spotty slick conditions.

Jett Lawrence came into the
High Point National dealing with
the worst of his multiple injuries,
his shoulder, which he sustained
two weeks ago after his crash at
the Hangtown National. Despite
the pain, the defending champ
summoned up just enough
to win both motos. His older

Levi Kitchen started the season
strong but has slipped off ever since
the second moto at Thunder Val-
ley. "This weekend wasn't the best
for me," he said. "In qualifying, my
times looked promising, but I felt off
the whole day. In moto one, I didn't
have a good start [he was 33rd at one
point] and made a good charge back
into the top 10. I had a better start in
moto two, but it still wasn't enough. I
made a few mistakes in each moto,
and I know I have more in me. I'm
looking forward to the weekend off to
reset." Kitchen is currently fourth in
the championship, 47 points behind
leader Deegan.

6TH (7-4) 450MX
Jason Anderson led a few laps in the
second 450MX moto and even pulled
away a bit before getting caught by
Jett, Sexton and Hunter. "Solid ride
today for me and the team," Ander-
son said. "We had a great qualifying
session, but unfortunately, my start
wasn't there in moto one. I had to put
