450MX Last week marked the first time that Jett Lawrence did not fin- ish on the podium in a 450MX moto. With his winning streak officially over, the defending champ looked to regain the momentum he's accustomed to. Lawrence started outside the top five in race one but fol - lowed the tow of his brother and Honda teammate Hunter during the opening laps of the race as the Honda duo outpaced the top three and passed early leader Justin Cooper (Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha) late in the moto. Jett claimed second, the first second-place result of his 450MX career. Race two looked more of the same, as the Lawrence broth - ROUND 3 / JUNE 8, 2024 THUNDER VALLEY MOTOCROSS /LAKEWOOD, COLORADO MOTOCROSS I AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP / MONSTER ENERGY SMX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP P66 7 AARON PLESSINGER 6TH (5-8) 450MX Aaron Plessinger (Red Bull KTM) continues to ride the top-five bubble and was sixth at Thunder Valley. "I got a good start but fell back and wasn't really gelling that much until I started clicking off some good laps around halfway and through to the end, so I ended up fifth. In the second moto, I royally messed up the start, so that cost me, and I paid for it. I came from around 20th place, which, in conditions like that being hard and slick, it's tough to come through the pack. I've just got to put myself in bet- ter positions early on, and we'll move on to High Point." 47 LEVI KITCHEN 5TH (3-7) 250MX Levi Kitchen (Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki) was fifth overall. "The day started out with an average qualifying session but quickly turned around in the first moto," he said. "I was able to make a late charge and finish third. Just before moto two, a thunderstorm rolled through and made the track so technical. I was able to make my way back up to a podium spot, but a mistake made me go down, and that was that." MYOWNRACE Jett Lawrence rebounded after a weekend off the box to take yet another moto win and overall.
