COCHRAN FASTEST QUALIFIER Seventeen-year-old Casey Cochran, a 250MX-class rookie, clocked the fastest time of all the 250MX riders during the morn- ing's qualifying sessions. The sole Rockstar Energy Husqvarna 250 pilot had never been to the Hangtown track, but said he found his flow early in the morning. A pair of 12ths was good enough to give him 10th on the day. "It was definitely a good day," said Cochran. "I surprised myself and, I think, a lot of people this morning by qualifying fastest, then ended up 10th overall for the weekend. To finish inside the top 10 at the second round—I'm happy with the day overall." NEW LAYOUT The track crew opened up the layout with less tight turns and off-camber corners. The addition of sand to the soil also made for a more unique look than we're accustomed to in years past. The new setup made for fast laps and some great racing. Briefly... VOLUME ISSUE JUNE , P63 2024 Hangtown Pro Motocross Video Hunter Lawrence was one of Chase Sexton's (4) 39 victims in the second 450MX moto. Jett was shaken up in the fall but slowly got on his feet. He pitted afterward to straighten the bike's front end and rejoined the race. "Rough race!" Jett said. "In moto one, I thought I could go for a double that would give me some space, and it ended up bucking me off. I got a chunk taken out of my leg, which was not ideal."
