Red Bull KTM's Chase Sex- ton went on to win both motos, and he didn't just win them—he was on a different level than everyone else, especially in the second moto when he passed the entire field (that's 39 rid - ers!), including moto-long leader Aaron Plessinger, on the last lap. Sexton said afterward that it was the best race of his life. The dramatic turn of events also shook up the 450MX Cham - pionship leaderboard. Sexton is now the red-plate holder (signify- ing the series leader), while for- mer leader Lawrence plummeted to sixth, 24 points behind Sexton. This resets the stage for what should now be a very interesting and compelling summer of racing. 450MX Jett outdueled Hunter for the holeshot in the first moto, but less than a lap later, Lawrence went cartwheeling off the track in front of Hunter. ROUND 2 / JUNE 1, 2024 RANCHO CORDOVA, CALIFORNIA // PRAIRIE CITY SVRA MOTOCROSS I AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP / MONSTER ENERGY SMX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP P62 28 CHRISTIAN CRAIG 10TH (12-11) 450MX Christian Craig rebounded from round one with a top 10 overall result. "Today was a better day, and in qualifying, my speed's starting to come around," said Christian Craig. "I'm still lacking strength, but that's going to take time and will eventually come. We were better today; I had two mid-pack starts and stayed out of the chaos, so we ended up going 11-12 for 10th overall—we'll take that luck on our side with the overall. I'm getting more comfortable on the bike again with more seat time." MYOWNRACE 29 TY MASTERPOOL 8TH (6-11) 250MX Making just his second start on the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawa- saki, Ty Masterpool had a solid day despite a rib injury. "Overall, I had a pretty good day," Masterpool said. "We are heading in the right direction. I didn't have a great start in the first moto, and I started to make my way up until I popped my rib out, hitting a square edge. After the moto, I got my rib popped back in and had a great start in the second moto. I felt like I was running a good pace until I hit another edge and popped my rib out again. It made it difficult to breathe, and I unfortunately faded fast."
