"Hunter was holding a really good pace, and it's not like I was getting held up," said Jett, who contemplated playing it safe in second and perhaps letting his brother win his first 450cc main event. "It did cross my mind for most of it just to stay there, but once I got a little closer, I thought, 'It would be nice to get a few extra points.' Just to have an extra cushion for next week - end. It was cool to follow him. It felt like at home almost at The Dogpound just logging laps. But yeah, it definitely crossed my mind a few times to just stay behind." Denver proved bountiful for rider number 96, Hunter Law- rence, as he grabbed his career- best finish with a second place and put his family name in the record books while doing so. The second of the two Honda HRC 450cc-class rookies claimed an impressive holeshot before tak - ing off with the early lead ahead of his little brother. It looked like a training day for the Lawrence boys, as the two led the field for the first time this year. Hunter eventually gave way, knowing that Jett's championship still needed every advantage. "It's pretty easy to see I'm not going to race him very hard," Hunter said. "The champion - ship's not about me right now. I'll have my time next year or even next weekend. It was a great night overall. It was cool to lead some laps. The start was good, too. That's something we've been struggling to ex - ecute in the main events."
