ROUND 14 / APRIL 20, 2024
NISSAN STADIUM / NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE
SUPERCROSS I MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES / SUPERMOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
P76
to stick wide open before he
crashed and pulled out of the
race. "A stone cracked my
throttle body and the throttle got
stuck, off of that single-single,"
Sexton said. "Bummer, but noth-
ing's broken, and we'll bounce
back in Philadelphia."
Later, while running in second
place, Roczen's shock failed in
the whoop section, which sent
him over the bars and onto the
ground. "Getting some MRIs on
Monday," Roczen said. "Knee,
ankle, and toes got all of it. We
have never seen it [the shock]
malfunction like that. It wasn't
a seal or anything. The bottom
cap/housing, or whatever you
want to call it, completely ex
-
rounded out the top five. "We
got off to
a decent start, made a
lot of passes in the first couple
of laps, and then I felt like I rode
really well under pressure in the
middle of the race," Barcia said.
"I made a charge toward the
end and finished fifth. A top-five
feels good."
Troubles struck for other
championship contenders, as
both Chase Sexton and Roczen
hit the deck hard during the
main event. A damaged throttle
body caused Sexton's throttle
mistakes. Then, finally, once I
settled down, I rode a lot bet
-
ter, and times started coming
down.
It was a tough track, and
you want to push, and Jett was
right there, so I was trying to
go his pace, and he was able
to do some things that I simply
couldn't. The guys just rode
away from me. So got to give
it: when you're not on, you're
not on, and tonight I definitely
struggled."
Jason Anderson finished
fourth. "I tried to keep my laps
consistent and catch Cooper
Webb, but the time expired,"
Anderson said.
Justin Barcia, who crashed
out of this race one year ago,
Sexton crashed out of the main
event and dropped to fourth in
points.
