We're not sure what's going on here, but issue number 13, 50 years ago made fun of our fictitious Moto-Monthly magazine, perhaps our idea of what a monthly motorcycle should be like... On the serious side, we had coverage of the two-day Tecate 500 Enduro. There were 260 starters and only 81 finishers... We also covered the San Diego Scottish Trials. Marland Whaley edged out Bernie Schreiber by one point for the win... Carl Cranke won the ISDT Qualifier in Fort Hood, Texas. YEARS AGO APRIL , P118 LOOKING BACK I The 125/250/500cc National Motocross took place in our backyard at Saddleback Park, and we had a photo of the start of the 125cc class dropping down Banzai Hill, with Ron Turner leading, on the cover of Cycle News 40 years ago. It was a Honda red sweep that day, with Johnny O'Mara, Ron Lechien, and David Bailey winning... Eddie Lawson won the opening round of the World Championship Road Race Series in South Africa. We also featured an interview with Lawson... Bernie Schreiber won the Trials World round in Wales. YEARS AGO APRIL , The 125/250/500cc National Motocross took place in our backyard at Saddleback Park, and we had a photo of the start of the 125cc class dropping down Banzai Hill, with cover of day, with Eddie Lawson Lawson Donny Schmit won the 250cc MX GP opener in Talavera, Spain, 30 years ago. Eddie Lawson won the opening round of the Road Race GP Series in South Africa 40 years ago.
