We're not sure what's going on here, but issue number 13, 50 years
ago made fun of our fictitious Moto-Monthly magazine, perhaps
our idea of what a monthly motorcycle should be like... On the
serious side, we had coverage of the two-day Tecate 500 Enduro.
There were 260 starters and only 81 finishers... We also covered
the San Diego Scottish Trials. Marland Whaley edged out Bernie
Schreiber by one point for the win... Carl Cranke won the ISDT
Qualifier in Fort Hood, Texas.

The 125/250/500cc National Motocross took place in our backyard
at Saddleback Park, and we had a photo of the start of the 125cc
class dropping down Banzai Hill, with Ron Turner leading, on the
cover of Cycle News 40 years ago. It was a Honda red sweep that
day, with Johnny O'Mara, Ron Lechien, and David Bailey winning...
Eddie Lawson won the opening round of the World Championship
Road Race Series in South Africa. We also featured an interview with
Lawson... Bernie Schreiber won the Trials World round in Wales.
