the same as Shimoda caught fire
with only a few laps remaining.
Despite his faster times, the gap
proved to be insurmountable,
Shimoda grabbed second
overall and second in the cham

pionship with a pair of fourths
on
Saturday night. The Japanese
rider came alive in the latter
stages of race one as he started
up front in race one but dropped
back as the laps wore on. An
aggressive pass by Pro Circuit
Kawasaki's Shimoda looked
to swing things in Shimoda's
favor. But race two saw Deegan
ride consistently, sandwiched
between his two Star Racing
teammates, Levi Kitchen and
Justin Cooper. With a Yamaha
barrier between him and Shi
-
moda, Deegan gained a crucial
five-point
advantage for the title.
"I thought I got second or third
overall," Deegan said "I got fifth
in the first race and went 5-2 so
still got the overall, but it's not
really winning the race. I'm going
to work harder than everyone
out on the track. That's my goal
every time."
