VOLUME ISSUE SEPTEMBER , P73
gave him the lowest score of
the night and the overall vic-
tory, which is all he cared about.
He took full advantage of the
double points payout and is now
only two points behind Sexton in
the SMX Championship.
"It [letting Roczen by] was
good for me, too, because I can
only learn so much from being
in front of the guy [Roczen],"
Lawrence said. "It was nice to
see how Kenny's lines were and
how he races on a tighter track.
I've seen it on outdoors, but now
I've seen it on a Supercross-
style layout. But yeah, the loss
from last week hurt a lot and
motivated me to come out here
swinging."
Roczen continues to improve
in SMX, bumping up a spot
from last weekend and taking
a race win in the process. The
Suzuki rider showed speed all
placing, not per moto.
"I was there riding, but my
mind was somewhere else try
-
ing to do math," said Lawrence.
"It took two laps just trying to
make sure that if I did let him
[Roczen] pass, it wouldn't affect
my overall."
As it turned out, Lawrence
didn't need to let Roczen by him,
but the Aussie's 1-2 finishes still
would guarantee Roczen finish
-
ing out the night second overall,
which would put more points
between himself and his near-
est rival, Sexton, in the champi-
onship. However, had Roczen
finished second, the Suzuki rider
still would have taken second
overall with a 3-2, beating Sex
-
ton's 2-3. In SMX, points are only
awarded for the riders' overall

The Supermini All-Stars went
under the lights for their main
event. Kawasaki's Carson Wood
led the race from start to finish, with
Max Shane and Benjamin Moya
rounding out the podium.

Jett Lawrence got back to
his winning ways, topping moto
one and taking the overall.
