Three Races, Three Different Winners
At Most WorldSBK
T
he weather at the Most round
of the WorldSBK Champion-
ship in the Czech Republic, July
29-30, was predictably unpredict-
able yet again, as it had been at
the two previous WorldSBK visits.
As it turned out, race one was
all about how people used the
weather changes and their reac-
tions to it. That's what decided
just how well people could use
it to their advantage that al-
lowed the outcome to go to the
often-beleaguered KRT squad
and Jonathan Rea. He won his
119th WorldSBK race, and a full
22-lap one at that, after the first
race presented the riders with
a wet track surface on the grid
and many permutations of tire
choices.
Starting off from the pole
position was Toprak Razgatlioglu
who signed his name in another
page of the record books with
his new track best of 1:30.810.
Bautista was only 14th after the
Superpole shuffle around, open
-
ing up the possibility of a Toprak
runaway, even over 22 laps
of the incredibly "busy" Most
circuit.
Rea, as did Toprak and even
-
tual third-placed rider Danilo
Petrucci, fitted Intermediate tires
for race one. Not slicks (too wet),
not full rain tires (too soft and
short-lived if it dried up as it may
well have done).
Duly there was no more real
rain after the start and the race
finished dry.
Having been called wet, peo-
ple could come in and change
tires if they wanted to. Or in
some cases, clearly needed to.
Early leader and an impres-
sive leader at that, Axel Bassani
(Motocorsa Ducati) knew his
potential first golden goose
WorldSBK race win was cooked
