"That second moto start
was just about perfect," said
Sexton. "Got into the lead and
just got on the gas too hard. I
got into that soft stuff and ex-
pected to get traction and did
not get traction. So I slid out
and Jett got around me. Then
after the finish line Jett made
a big mistake, and I ended up
crashing two turns later. We
were going wide open and in
the roost, you just can't see
anything and I went right over
the rut."
Dylan Ferrandis is close,
just not close enough. The
Monster Energy Star Racing
Yamaha rider has been consis
-
tently third on the box, but he
wants a win. Ferrandis, who is
Lawrence honest, battling back
from a crash in moto one and
clawing back to the rear wheel
of his Honda teammate. The
pressure was on as the two
matched lap times for nearly
half the race before running
into lapped traffic and then
another tip over from Sexton
on the final lap. He rebounded
with a holeshot in moto two,
but an early mistake and a
later fall would seal the deal
for Lawrence's overall win. Two
heartfelt efforts and the fastest
lap of the second moto show
that Sexton is the closest rider
to dethroning Jett Lawrence.
Could he be the Kevin Wind
-
ham that disrupts the string of
perfect overall wins?
