battle and I was looking forward
to it, but he made that mistake
and slid out and I was able to
capitalize on it. Then he went
down, which I'm not mad about
because it made it easier on me
and we didn't have to go all the
way until the end."
Sexton looked the best that
we've seen all summer. The
number-23 did his best to keep
fumbled. With 14 wins from 14
starts Jett's streak continues
into next week's round eight (of
11) at Washougal.
"The track was definitely dif
-
ferent than the previous years,"
said Lawrence. "I feel like it fa-
vored more of Chase's [Sexton]
technique with the more flat-out,
bulldog style. That second one,
I knew it would be an all-out
33 PIERCE BROWN
12TH (9-16) 250MX
Pierce Brown returned to the series
with 12th overall. "I'm finally out here
racing with the boys and the first moto
was quiet but solid with a ninth," he
said. "The second moto started a little
better. That uphill triple is big. I tried
it one time, cased it, and came to a
stop. After that, I got to the top of the
hill, tucked the front end, and fell. But
after that, I got up and felt like I was
riding really good. I caught back up to
the pack that passed me."
24 RJ HAMPSHIRE
4TH (3-6) 250MX
Another opening moto podium for
RJ Hampshire, but a sixth in moto
two, dropped him to fourth overall.
"The first moto was decent, pretty
solid," he said. "In the second moto,
I got hung up on the start. I ended
up going down about halfway. I got
another fourth overall, but I just need
to try and turn it around a bit in these
second motos."
MYOWNRACE
