Roczen In For Next Three Seasons
of World Supercross
K
en Roczen announced his
entry into the fledgling World
Supercross Championship
through 2025.
Roczen, who's currently fourth
in the Monster Energy AMA Super
-
cross series, won the inaugural,
two-round 450SX Championship
last year aboard a Honda but will
contest the 2023 World Super-
cross Championship with his cur-
rent team, the Pipes Motorsports
Group, racing a Suzuki RM-Z450.
He'll forgo racing the American
Pro Motocross Championship to
set his sights on being a Super
-
cross specialist and returns to the
series as the defending champion.
"I had a great time in Cardiff
and Melbourne last year, which
made it easy to commit to the
World Supercross Champion
-
ship," said Roczen. "I'm hungrier
than ever for race wins and will
be giving it my all with my team
to be standing on the top step
when the season ends in Mel
-
bourne this November."
Roczen added, "I think it's really
important that more riders focus
solely on the discipline, which
is why I'm concentrating on the
World Supercross Championship
and the AMA Supercross Cham
-
pionship in the coming years. I
feel like my riding this year has
been as good as ever, and I'm ex-
cited to see what I can do when
focusing on one specialty."
No word yet how this will im-
pact Roczen's entry for the U.S.-
based SuperMotocross World
Championship which consists of
three playoff rounds in Septem-
ber and October.
The World Supercross Cham-
pionship has expanded to six
rounds this year, with each
race taking place in a different
country, none in the U.S. Round
one takes place July 1 with the
British Grand Prix and concludes
in November with the Australian
GP in Melbourne.
