A
fter a weekend off, the Monster
Energy AMA Supercross Series
resumed in Glendale, Arizona,
for round 12. Coming into the night,
the 450SX points were tied at the top
at 248 for both Eli Tomac and Cooper
Webb, which is the deepest into the
series that Supercross has ever gone
with the championship in a dead heat.
Tomac, on the Monster Energy Star
Racing Yamaha, ultimately got the
upper hand as he claimed the Triple
Crown victory in Arizona. With it he re-
takes sole possession of the red plate,
and solidifies himself as second on the
all-time Supercross wins list.
Tomac kicked off the three-main-
event format with a wire-to-wire win
ahead of Webb, on the Red Bull KTM.
Tomac held Webb at bay on the hard-
packed track throughout the race. The
Yamaha rider then challenged for the
lead in race two but ultimately finished
second to Honda HRC's Chase Sexton,
who is still in the title hunt in third.
Eli Tomac escapes the
carnage en route to his
51st career win.
