We looked at the inside world of sidehack racing 50 years ago... After completing a three-year track renovation, Ascot Park brought back the 100 Lap TT. Second-year pro Gary Scott took the win, five seconds ahead of Gene Romero... A $3200 purse was o€ered to the 125cc Pro motocross class, and more than 80 pros flocked to Arroyo Cycle Park (now known as Glen Helen Raceway) in hopes of getting a piece of the pie. Ray Lopez, riding a "Don Emler Penton," was the big winner and pocketed $1000. YEARS AGO MARCH , P120 LOOKING BACK I Our 1983 Kawasaki KX250 test bike was pictured in action on the cover of Cycle News 40 years ago. We said it was a great bike but with almost too much power, saying it required more throttle control than a powerful Open-class bike. It sold for $2219...
