T
he future of Progressive
American Flat Track was
very much on display as
the 2023 season opened dur
-
ing Bike Week with the Daytona
Short Track I and II presented
by Daytona Dodge, held at Day-
tona International Speedway's
0.25-mile short track located
just on the other side of NAS-
CAR turn two.
When AMA Pro Racing made
some major moves ahead of
the '22 season in an attempt to
level the playing field and bol-
ster brand representation, the
initiative was initially met with
resistance and skepticism.
A thrilling five-rider, two-
make championship battle did
much to support the wisdom
of organizers' maneuvers,
but it was merely a promising
preview of what is to come.
Phase 2 began in earnest at
the '23 Daytona double-opener,
featuring a further refined rule-
set alongside the elimination
of the intermediate Mission
Production Twins class.
And with that, the plan be
-
came that much clearer—and
impressive. A huge crowd was
in attendance to witness the
action provided by a king-sized
premier-class entry list featur
-
ing seven different manufac-
turers.
