Tomac is showing everyone that he's hard to beat. After a wild end to the third main event last weekend, some questioned if Star Racing Yamaha's Tomac reached his breaking point with pressure from Chase Sexton, Cooper Webb and Jason An - derson. The points leader and defending champ put any of those whispers to rest on Sat - urday, as he led every lap of the main event, even with a restart. Tomac did what he does, run - ning solid mistake-free laps at the front of the field. Honda HRC's Sexton came close for a time, but the champ stayed consistent in the lead and never wavered. Houston marked Tomac's third win in four starts as he extended his points lead to seven. "There was no time to rest at all," Tomac said. "That's racing though, you're just marking guys and watching them. Good thing the lapped traffic wasn't bad tonight and the track was open and fast. But yeah, I never felt at ease, I can tell you that." Sexton is right on target and came home second to Tomac on Saturday night. The Honda rider is fresh off a win at Anaheim 2 and carried that momentum into the night show with a qualifying time just over one second faster than second place. Sexton won his heat and worked his way into stalk - ing Tomac for the entire main event. At times, the 23-machine looked to be closing on the number-three but small mis - takes never allowed Sexton to secure a pass. "I got another unreal start in the main, and I was duking it out for the lead when the race was unfortu- nately red-flagged. Off the staggered start, I slid out a li le in the first turn and lost a posi on, then another rider got around me soon a erward. I got my bearings back and started charging, then despite a couple of li le mistakes, I finished the race at a good pace in a P4 posi on." 31 MICHAEL MOSIMAN 6TH 250SX EAST Michael Mosiman has been considered a favorite in the 250 class but finished outside the top five in round one. "For the first round of the East, I had an all- right day. My pace and fitness are good. I thought I had a lot of strengths, but I just need to clean up the starts and I can do that. It's unfortunate. P6 is not where we want to be star ng out, but I warm up quick."
