Champion Marty Smith retired from
professional racing after the San Diego
Supercross, November 4, 1981. Smith
announced his retirement in the
San Diego
Union-Tribune
newspaper on the morning
of the race. In this photo, legendary
announcer Larry Huffman interviews the
San Diegan in front of 41,189 fans from
the floor of the Jack Murphy Stadium.
