HERLINGS MAKES HISTORY
effrey Herlings wrote
his name into the Motocross Grand Prix history
books in Loket, Czech Republic, August 4, with his
second-straight FIM MX2
World title. At just 18 years
old, Herlings became the
winningest Dutch rider in
the history of the sport, tying John Van Den Berk's
World titles record, but
bests his fellow countryman with
21 more overall victories, 14 of
which were just this year alone.
"Everything is going so fast,"
Herlings said. "Three years ago, I
took part in my first Grand Prix and
now I have already won 30 Grand
Prix, two MX2 World titles and
In addition to his perfect
overall record so far this season, Herlings won 26 out of
the 28 motos this year – finishing second in moto two at
Brazil and third in moto one
at Sweden – and has been
on pole seven times in 2013.
There are three rounds
left of the championship
and, even though Herlings
has the title in the bag early,
the Red Bull KTM rider wants
to continue rewriting the history
books this year and win every
Grand Prix of the season.
Herlings MX2 Championship
is also KTM's sixth straight in the
class, starting with Tyla Rattray's
Championship in 2008.

times. It is an amazing feeling, but
maybe only when I'll be older, I'll
realize what I have accomplished."
