T
he stakes couldn't have been higher,
and the margin couldn't have been
slimmer, as Trystan Hart (FMF/KTM)
and Jonny Walker (Beta) entered the final
round of the Gieco AMA EnduroCross Se-
ries at Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center
in Reno, Nevada, separated by a single
point in the championship chase. Lurking in
the background was GasGas factory rider
Taddy Blazusiak, who sat just 16 points short
of the lead, giving him an outside chance
for the title should anything bizarre happen,
which is certainly not out of the realm of
possibility in EnduroCross.
The significance of all of this resulted in a
true winner-take-all scenario that unfolded
spectacularly in front of a rambunctious and
appreciative Reno crowd.
After three chaotic motos that produced
two different winners, FactoryONE Sherco's
Cody Webb emerged as the overall victor
with a 1-3-3 moto tally, while Walker took the
ultimate prizeāthe series title, with a runner-
up finish after posting a 3-2-2 score. Hart
finished third on the night and second in the
championship chase having gone 6-1-1 for the
evening, missing out on the overall win and
handing Walker the title. Walker started the
night a single point behind and had not led
the championship all season.
