PHILLIP ISLAND CIRCUIT / PHILLIP ISLAND, AUSTRALIA
P74
MOTOGP I FIM MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
MOTOGP
The Animoca Brands Australian
Motorcycle Grand Prix made a lot
of headlines and a bit of history.
The history was the top seven
riders finishing within a single sec-
ond—0.884, to be exact. It's also
the second closest top-10 ever.
For defending champ Fabio
Quartararo, however, Phillip
Island was a nightmare. His title
hopes took another battering
when he crashed on his own
and was forced to retire, mak-
ing life a lot easier points leader
Francesco Bagnaia.
MYOWNRACE
93 MARC MARQUEZ
2ND MOTOGP
"It was a great race today," said Marquez.
"I really enjoyed the ba le a lot and the
feeling of returning to the podium is fan-
tas c. It has been a long journey and we
have reached the next stage. The so rear
was certainly the correct op on for us in
the race, I felt quite good, and I was able
to fight un l the end. At the start I was
managing the situa on a li le bit, but I
really enjoyed the race, I tried to win! Alex
Rins did really well in the last few laps. I
le everything out on track today and I
really enjoyed all the overtakes, especially
at turn two because the bike was working
really well there."
Rins gave Suzuki
what could be
the company's
last hurrah before
departing MotoGP
racing at the end
of the season.
Francesco Bagnaia (63)
leads Marc Marquez and
Rins. Bagnaia went on
to finish third, and more
importantly, take over the
points lead.
