30 Years Ago OCTOBER 21, 1992 Kevin Magee won the Australian round of the World Championship Superbike Series at Phillip Island 30 years ago. Doug Polen was second and Raymond Roche third... Todd Harrington topped the Daytona Race of Champions. The 21-year-old racer from Illinois won six amateur classes over the weekend... Jeff Ward made his Indy Lights Series debut at Laguna Seca Raceway and finished seventh. It was his first four-wheel race ever... Kawasaki debuted its 1993 off-road lineup. We featured Fred Hoess from the Czech Republic ISDE on the cover of Cycle News 20 years ago. The previous issue we had brief results from the race but for this issue we featured more in-depth coverage. Alex Barros also got a piece of the cover for winning the Pacific Grand Prix on Honda's V-5 factory racer... Fred Andrews won the Powerline Park GNCC in St. Clairsville, Ohio... We had coverage of Swede Tony Rickardsson clinching his fifth World Speedway title... We showed you some of the bikes displayed at the Intermot 2002 motorcycle show.
