Our 125cc Puch dual-sport test bike was pictured on the cover 50 years
ago, ridden by a happy-looking and helmet- and protection-less female
photo model. How times have changed... We had coverage of the
Golden Bear World Championship Enduro held at Soggy Dry Lake in the
California desert, but we didn't know who had won yet. Typical of the time,
competitors had to wait approximately two weeks for enduro results to be
tallied... Roger DeCoster and Ake Jonsson were the stars at the Trans-
AMA Series round at Road Atlanta.

LOOKING BACK
We pictured the all-new VF750 V45 Interceptor from Honda on the cover
of Cycle News 40 years ago. It was the talk of the town... Mike Bell,
David Bailey and Scott Burnworth were the big winners at Sand Hill
Ranch in Brentwood, California, for round four of the CMC/Miller High
Life Trans-Cal MX Series... The famous Husqvarna-mounted Smith
and Ashcraft duo, both with Dan as first names, won the Reno-to-
Reno Frontier 500 desert race... Team USA won the International Team
Speedway Tournment in England.
