Howes Holds
Rallye Du Maroc
Lead After Two
Stages
H
usqvarna's Skyler Howes holds a
1:40-second lead over KTM's two-time
Dakar Champion, Toby Price after two stages
of the 2022 Rallye du Maroc in Morocco.
A pair of fourth-place finishes on stages
one and two saw Howes leapfrog stage one winner,
former Yamaha factory man Ross Branch (Hero Mo-
torsports) and second-placed Luciano Benavides
(Husqvarna), while third- and sixth-place finishes
across the opening two stages for Price sees the
Australian second overall heading into day three.
"The organizers really challenged us all today
with some difficult-to-find waypoints, and I think
it was a tough day for everyone, on the whole,"
Howes said. "There were some tracks with a
waypoint at the end that were especially hard to
find. The wind had hidden the tracks so much that
it was really tricky to know if you were in the right
place. After that we hit the dunes and that was also
a real challenge. They were super soft, but there
had been some rain, too, that made them extra
difficult to ride."
Behind Howes, Price and Benavides after two
stages were Branch's former Yamaha factory team-
mate Adrien Van Beveren (Honda), former Dakar
winner Ricky Brabec (Honda) and Branch rounding
out the top six.
