We featured a revealing look at the all-new Yamaha GTS1000 on the cover
30 years ago. Mike Kiedrowski also got a piece of the cover for winning
the 500cc Motocross National Championship at Budds Creek. Jeff Emig
also wrapped the 125cc MX title. Emig and Mike LaRocco were separated
by one point going into the day, but LaRocco had to stop and replace a
shift lever after clipping a haybale in the first moto... Scott Parker edged
out Chris Carr at the Sacramento Mile to close to within nine points
of Carr with one round to go...
Danny Hamel clinched his second
consecutive AMA Hare & Hound title
in Wendover, Nevada.
Colin Edwards was featured prominently on the cover of Cycle News 20
years ago for wrapping up the World Superbike title at Imola... We had
coverage of the ISDE from the Czech Republic, where the World Trophy
Team from Finland took the win. The U.S. Trophy Team had one of its
riders excluded for a technical violation and another assessed a five-
minute penalty also for a technicality. The result was a disappointing
16th... Mike Haaker won the Du Quoin Mile... We interviewed Kevin
Windham who was on the comeback trail from injury.
