ago... We had full coverage of the Trans-AMA Motocross Series from St.
Peters, Missouri. Sweden's Ake Jonsson was the overall winner after
topping two of the three motos. Heikki Mikkola was the other moto
winner. Prior commitments in Japan prevented Roger DeCoster from
racing. The top American finisher was Brad Lackey... We covered the
Check Chase Hare & Hound in Parker, Arizona. Larry Pfutzenreuter was
the winner... We tested Yamaha's CT-3 175.

LOOKING BACK
Our Bimota HB2 test bike was pictured on the cover 40 years ago. The
Honda-powered Italian beauty sold for $11,500... the CMC Trans-Cal
Series was in full swing and Steve Martin (Open), Broc Glover (250cc)
and Johnny O'Mara (125cc) came away with the Pro-class wins at
Central California's Huron MX track... Eddie Lawson wrapped up the
AMA Superbike title at Moroso Motorsport Park in West Palm Beach,
Florida... Johnny Martin rode his factory-backed Can-Am to victory at
the Black Coal National Hare Scrambles.... Hawaiian Phil Oveland won
the CZ World Championships at Saddleback Park.
