Rea got a long-lap penalty for his error, having already come under pressure from riders who passed him in the aftermath of the Bautista incident. Rea still clambered back through the field to fifth place at the flag. Up front Bassani was leading Razgatlioglu until the superior pace of the World Champion took him to the lead, and eventu- ally his second win of the day and weekend. He's now got 26 career wins. Rinaldi overtook Razgatlioglu as his aggression turned from Rea for a time, but Razgatlioglu passed him back after Rinaldi ran wide, to win by over two seconds. Bassani was again third, preferring the long races to the Superpole sprint in which he was "only" sixth. Alex Lowes was not so far from Bassani in fourth, again, with Rea fifth and Redding sixth. Expect the fallout from the Rea/Bautista incident to go on, even after Rea went to apologize to Bautista. For Garrett Gerloff (GRT Ya- maha WorldSBK), a fifth in race one was matched by a pair of eighths in the Superpole race and race two. "Sunday was a bit difficult, ev- erybody had really good pace," Gerloff said. "The Superpole race is always hectic and tough to manage, but at least I was able to recover to eighth place, which is better than nothing. Same thing in race two, I had contact from another rider and went wide, so I had to fight my way back. It is what it is, but I'll keep fighting and focus on Barcelona." In the post Magny points, Bautista has 322, Razgatlioglu moved up to second overall with 302, Rea has 285, and Rinaldi is fourth with 167. Next round is in Barcelona- Catalunya, on September 23-25.
